The mystery behind the game seemed fascinating - it wasn't. at all.Everything about this game was an unbelivable letdown.. I almost recommended the game until the last 15 minutes before the ending... the graphics, music, gameplay, dialogues are just what I desired in a point&click adventure game, and the story is really captivating. However, when you ruin an ending in any kind of storytelling, you basically dismiss all the process of getting there.. I don't care for point and click games and occasionally I happen to purchase some discounted large pack that includes some. I take it upon myself to at least start and give it a little playtime to get a limited impression about quality.So, it seems visually quite nice though the mechanics and dialogues can be a bit annoying since every time you examine something it "plays" through a description scene. I would think first time would be enough and simply stick to written description for subsequent clicks.The story seem to be ok and the interface somewhat ok too.Graphics, animation and sound is not top notch but absolutely decent and nothing I'd complain about.So, if point and click games is our thing, I suspect this might be an ok game to play. Have seen much worse while not much better, so I think it deserves a thump up rather than one down.. It's hard not to recommend this game though obviously it was done in a hurry in the end. Backgrounds are beautiful and atmospheric. Puzzles are ok, playing as detective is especially good. I liked how they did this investigation thing. Apart of very abrupt ending it is very nice game. Looks like mix of Black Mirror and Still Life. I almost gave this a positive review. Almost. I was really getting into the game, and mentally planning to leave a glowing review for it because once you get past the awkward UI and the annoying 'Hunt for the plot trigger' scheme, the story really picks up. And then it train wrecks and rolls credits. Spoiler warning, but there's not a happy or satisfying ending. It just gives you a last second plot dump that spoils the tantalizing mysteries and then kills off both main characters. They could still be alive for a sequel, but only because of numerous loose ends that also sour the experience. After beating it, I genuinely went online to find out if I had somehow gotten a Bad End or something. It's just that sour.All that said, for the price it has decent graphics (though the animations are limited and sadly recycled far too often) and great characters. They did a great job with the art design, and the setting is enjoyable and well presented. The characters are annoyingly obtuse and obnoxious, but their unlikable personalities are actually a nice change of pace. Sure they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s, but why should stories only revolve around likeable people? The thief actually has a nice story arc that redeems him a fair bit. (The detective sadly feels like 90% of his story was left on the cutting room floor.) If the ending hadn't felt like they ran out of budget and just kicked it out the door then I'd have recommended it. If you pick it up on a heavy sale or in a bundle then it's worth an install, it's just you should go in expecting to be disappointed by the waste of a good story and characters. This game doesn't need a sequel, it needs a complete remake that retcons the ending.. Even though not as strong story as some other adventure games, it was still a lot of fun. Both voice acting and graphics are spot on. I recommend it, especially if you can get it on a sale.Storywise, I don't really see the point of there being two playable characters. Seems like you mainly just play the same story. I think instead of having two playable characters, it would have been better to spend more time developing a proper story for just one of the characters. It seems like some of the back story for why the characters are there are missing. Something which could have been forgiven, if the story was engaging. But the story doesn't really go anywhere. It makes you kind of think "Why am I doing this?", which is never a good thing. The ending is kind of disappointing, and seems like a strange ending to the story. Somehow it seems like someone just said "We're out of money. What's the cheapest and easiest way we can end the story now?"Also the puzzle can be too easy for hardcore adventure games, but for me who just enjoy experiencing the story. I loved that you don't get stuck on puzzles.. It's a pretty straight forward adventure games but it doesn't really stand out. The voice acting specifically drags the game down. Your character shouldn't sound like he can't be bothered to read his lines. Even the developers knew this because the trailer doesn't contain a single spoken word!. I just finished the game, I just can not express how much sad I am about that ending. This game was just a masterpiece in bringing interesting characters, very realistic I would say.Just play it for yourself. It is very good game with a lot to discover, X chapters to be exact. Dialogues are incredible.You are playing for two characters at each chapter alone as storytellers themselves you play your way through.This game just was so good I had to finish it as the mystery was taking the place all around. And you will see that it is going to turn out into more over your control game, even though you can manage to proceed through incredible experience and just stay focused on what they say. You may play through whole game without tips or walkthrough, just try every item on everything and everyone. You will progress into another areas, into more trouble, even though you are trying to solve the problems of your character, to me it seems, that they both overcomplicate everything and worry too much about safety and try not to make mistakes they surely can not avoid as everything is pretty much planned and they just do as any good person would do.I must say that the characters you will have power over will be totally different (maybe Alter Ego), though they are two different bodies and are totally different. Those two are shown on the official picture of the game. Well, I can not say other, than just buy it, play it, enjoy the cutscenes and details put to the graphics and storytelling and mysteries that are sometimes scary, and you might also laught at few puns but mostly it is as serious as you may imagine any dark game.I still can not finish, this game just got me in few hours, I would like to continue playing. Well it is kind of open ended, well at least I hope, compared to the story of this game, you might think it has some other end than what you might see and more happy about it. As I mentioned in the beginning. I am so surprised by that ending, though from the start and throughout I expected something like that, especially Chapter IX is a big drama, I can not say any more. It just got me into heart.On the downside, the animations are not perfect, when talking to others, even you are not speaking, or other person, they open mouth, and sometimes animations skip to another without smooth movements, but why worry about it. Nothing that annoys, there is a lot more that makes this game good.I read other neutral good comments, well, it seems to them like cheap piece but for me it is one of the adventure games that do not frustrate and do not bring you to totally difficult logical puzzles, instead they focus on the simple story (good vs. evil, or victim vs. muderer) and there is not much of an opportunity to do things differently. The characters themselves are very intelligent and speak to themselves which gives you some clues what they really think, so you might understand that the problem is not over and they want to dig deeper. Especially the second character you are introduced to is the one who likes the order, the first one is more spontaneous.Alter Ego probably means these two characters have good and evil sides, not that they are both the same, as they are totally different types of personallity. Though, as you play for them, you may feel sympathy, you also know from dialogues about them and their past, so you know they are totally not so angellic, but I could not say that you are playing for the bad guys, they just act badass.. I like this game, however it is rather unfortunate and annoying how it forces you to be heterosexual. it doesn't let you explore your sexuality at all. That's not realistic.
